Coop #17

New on the tourGarden of interestOf interest to children

Nestled alongside garden paths, woodland hideaways and a creek, this bright red coop boasts a pergola design and a cedar shake roof. With a tree inside for perching, this predator proof paradise is not to be missed.

Garden Description
The garden is a cottage woodland style garden nestled under loblolly pine trees which are companied by a couple large oaks making it mostly shady, with part sun in a few areas. There are two parts to the garden: the lower half and the upper half. The lower half is where the chicken coopla is and is bordered by a little creek. It has several hardwood mulch paths snaking through it with little sitting areas here and there. The upper half has a cottage style perennial border next to the roadway and white rock paths running inside the fenced in portion. This part is a little bird sanctuary for many different types of birds, but the main bird to look for here are the blue birds. The garden has a wide range of plant material which includes azaleas, camellias, rhododendrons, aucubas, hostas, hydrangeas, pieris, mahonia, spriaea, barberry, daylilies, red knock-out roses, hellebores, hemlocks, dogwoods, and redbuds. All these plants make for an extraordinary spring garden, with all types of surprises during the year. The plant material is proportionally spaced not to be cluttered but to have a cozy welcome feel when you come in. The garden also has a number of container plantings with seasonal color plantings. Last but not least during the summer months you'll find a wonderful little veggie garden in the lower half with all types of veggies and herbs used for fresh eating or cooking.
